As you continue, the path gradually ascends through captivating forest terrain teeming with wildlife. The forest thins out eventually. You'll reach the campsite, at the border of the moorland zone, offering expansive vistas of the Kenyan plains.

In the hours of the morning between midnight and 2 am, begin your ascent, towards the summit on a path of scree or snow leading to Gilman’s Point on the crater rim (at an elevation of 5700m/18,700ft). Moving onward, we make our way up to Uhuru Peak, which stands as Africa’s point. Every twist and turn offers views. Don't forget to capture a snapshot at the peak to share with your loved ones. As we descend from here, we pause for lunch and relaxation at Kibo before heading towards the Horombo campsite.
The initial phase of this climb is undertaken in darkness and necessitates headlamps or flashlights. Expect temperatures until you begin your descent; make sure to have all your warm clothing layers ready. This section proves to be the part of the journey, with numerous switchbacks.
